About Jas, The Practitioner

My name is Jas and I am a Registered Midwife, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, Tongue Tie Practitioner and Craniosacral Therapist. My business names are Love2Latch and Hold4Health.
Having experienced over 18 years of midwifery history, predominately as a Midwife in the Community setting, I have been blessed to be able to witness the beautiful moment when a mother and her family welcome and bond with their new baby, and the empowerment that they feel as their confidence and knowledge develops in their role as parents.

The Midwife’s role in this process is key and with each and every family that I can support, I feel a huge sense of gratitude for being part of that special moment.

Feeding your baby is one of the most exciting and challenging parts of being a parent and can also be an overwhelming experience if you choose to breast/chest feed. This is because breast/chestfeeding is a technique that involves lots of support from those around you, while both you and your baby are learning to make it work.

Once established, breast/chest feeding your baby is a wonderful and bonding experience with fantastic health benefits for you both.

Having personally experienced both a straightforward breastfeeding journey and also one involving tongue tie divisions, mastitis and slow weight gain, my personal experience has fuelled my professional passion to develop the awareness and identification of Tongue Tie and the significance they can have on a woman and her baby’s feeding path.

I completed the Tongue Tie division training programme based in Southampton to ensure my knowledge and competence levels are adequate to complete the assessment and perform the procedure safely. I continue to update and refresh my learning and knowledge about Tongue Tie each year and at each possible opportunity.

I am also on the committee as the Membership Secretary for the Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners, see http://www.tongue-tie.org.uk for more information about the ATP.

I have a wealth of breastfeeding support experience through my role in Community midwifery and as a qualified Lactation Consultant with the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants(IBCLCs). This entailed significant further training and a 4 hour exam at the end!! It is a requirement to re-certify every 5 years, proving the continued professional development and training achieved during this period. I am due to re-certify in 2027.

I am also a huge advocate of bodywork therapy to support babies in their transition from intra-utero to extra-utero life. The bones of the cranium are soft to allow for a safe birth through the vaginal canal whilst firm enough to protect the brain. However, the late stages in pregnancy, or a malposition (even a sneaky hand up by the face or cord wrapped around the neck/body!) and/or a traumatic birth, especially with interventions; are all reasons for there to be undue tension or restrictions within the babies craniosacral therapy. These can add to or be responsible for poor latch, tongue function or feeding practices. I can work with babies to support their bodies in this transition and healing that may be required, with a light touch gentle approach known as Craniosacral Therapy.

Please feel free to ask me for more details on this.

I am also regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), registered for surgical procedures with the Care Quality Commission and I have medical indemnity insurance to perform Frenulotomies on babies under 12 months old with Beazley Ltd. Holistic Insurance Services provide my Craniosacral Therapy insurance.
